MISSION STATEMENT

     Our goal is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the City of Martinsville, while promoting a safe and healthy work environment. Promoting the prevention of injuries. Encouraging community involvement, promoting professionalism, cultivating friendships among our members, and firefighters internationally.


HOW WE STARTED

     How and why we joined the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana.
     We started in late 2001, early 2002 by contacting Indianapolis local 416. We spoke to Bloomington's local. After we looked at all of our options we decided that our best option was not to go under another local, but to form our own local in the International Association of Fire Fighters. Our decision has been full of great learning experiences dealing with city officials. We feel we have formed a good working relationship with our city council. We still have work to do but we are working hard.
     We would like to give special thanks to Local 416 President Mike Reeves, PFFUI President Tom Hanify, Attorney's Matthew Langenbacher and Kieth Karlson. We would like to thank these Brothers for the great guidance and assistance they gave us to get us through the process of starting our own local.
